CG Story

Partnering with Changing Gears on our Ageing Workforce Strategy has resulted in better awareness of available options for those considering transition to retirement”.

Vic Roads

FMP have been working with Changing Gears for the past 5 years. Expertly led by Wayne Bishop we have been able to build a trusting and sharing relationship with our employees, while developing strategies for providing them with options for a dignified exit from the workforce. By giving them the skills and knowledge to plan for the future and supporting them along the way, we are now in a position where our employees are sharing their retirement plans with us well in advance.

I am pleased to recommend Changing Gears to an executive or board that is currently considering ageing workforce strategies. Wayne and his team have been instrumental in assisting the Austin to strategise and implement sustainable solutions to address this issue.

Over the past few years, we have run a number of Changing Gears programs with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. Central to the feedback has been the personalised and professional advice provided by Wayne and the team and the holistic approach that encompasses not only financial but also lifestyle factors.

With regard to the Changing Gears program delivered by Activetics, I wholeheartedly recommend the program.

I was first introduced to Wayne Bishop and the team about 10 years ago when I was working for VicRoads in Melbourne. At the time there was a need to reduce the size of the public service. This was combined with the challenge of an aging workforce.

The program, comprising of life planning, superannuation awareness and navigating CentreLink provides participants with the information they need to make informed decisions about their own future. Anecdotally following the program, people self-select for retirement, or for the first time, have an awareness of their situation meaning they can start planning. The return on investment is on a number of fronts – reduced sick leave & presenteeism, reduced workers comp claims, as well as boosting engagement. Employees recognise that this program is about their wellbeing and looking after them, rather than normal professional development aimed at building a skill or capability.

I have seen the Changing Gears program evolve over time and the feedback from participants is always exceptional.

In a number of situations, I have seen participants walk out of a session $20 000+ per annum better off because they weren’t aware of NTG PASS or Comm Super entitlements, and in some cases a decision to retire follows closely after attendance.

The program works best where partners are able to attend, as retirement planning is a joint decision. Having both people at the table means that the discussions are robust and meaningful.

I couldn’t recommend Wayne and the team higher. We last engaged the team a few months ago to support our Org Realignment so I can confirm they know Territory context.

FMP have been working with Changing Gears for the past 5 years. Expertly led by Wayne Bishop we have been able to build a trusting and sharing relationship with our employees while developing strategies for providing them with options for a dignified exit from the workforce.

By giving them the skills and knowledge to plan for the future and supporting them along the way, we are now in a position where our employees are sharing their retirement plans with us well in advance. This has enhanced our ability to forecast our future resource requirements and added a new dimension to the quality of the dialogue we have with our employees.

Our Ageing Workforce Program has delivered measurable value to both our people and the bottom line as we have joined together to tackle a problem that had the potential to cripple our business due to the inevitable loss of tacit knowledge and years of experience as a high percentage of our valued employees near retirement age.

Wayne and the team have been critical to us successfully delivering a refreshed approach to supporting our employees in transitioning to retirement. Over the past few years, we have run a number of Changing Gears programs with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. Central to the feedback has been the personalised and professional advice provided by Wayne and the team and the holistic approach that encompasses not only financial but also lifestyle factors.

We’ve been particularly impressed with Wayne’s interest in creating a sense of ‘community’ with our employees where experiences and knowledge can be shared.

We have seen so many positive synergies between Wayne’s approach and our commitment to supporting employees across all stages of life and leveraging refreshed approaches to work that benefit both our business and our people.

We feel very fortunate to have been able to work with Wayne and the team and would highly recommend the Changing Gears program.
